A gigantic clean-up and reconstruction job faced the Hoos & Fletcher building supply company after their yard and buildings were left in a shambles by the flood that swept down Culver Brook on August 19th, 1955. Building foundations were washed out, walls sagged and roofs split, and lumber was washed down stream to be buried under tons of silt and debris.
